When companies call us

Six reasons companies look for financing

The right financing depends on what the money is for, how the business generates cash and how much risk the owners want to carry.

Funding growth

A new location, a product line or a large contract that needs capital before it produces cash.

Working capital that swings

Seasonal or uneven cash flow, large purchase orders or slow-paying customers that tie up cash in receivables and inventory.

Buying equipment or property

Assets that can support their own financing, structured so repayments match the cash they generate.

Funding an acquisition

Senior debt, vendor financing and equity combined so the deal works for the buyer and for the lender.

Refinancing existing debt

Consolidating facilities, extending terms or lowering the cost of capital as the business matures.

A turnaround or a bridge

Special situations where a bridge or an asset-based facility buys time to stabilize or to complete a transaction.

Who finances Vancouver companies

Vancouver companies have more sources of capital than most owners use: the commercial banking teams of the major banks, British Columbia’s large credit unions, BDC, asset-based and private lenders, credit funds, family offices and private equity. Each has its own appetite, underwriting style and pricing.

We work closely with commercial lenders, credit funds, family offices and special situations investors across Canada and the U.S. That lets us match a company with capital that fits its needs, and present the business in the way each provider decides.

Banks and credit unions

The lowest cost of debt for companies with steady cash flow and security to offer. They lend on historical earnings and coverage ratios, and they reward clean, timely reporting with better terms and smoother renewals.

BDC and government-backed programs

BDC and the Canada Small Business Financing Program can lend where a bank would not on its own, for growth, equipment or intangible assets, with their own security and repayment terms.

Asset-based and private lenders

When cash flow is uneven but receivables, inventory or equipment are strong, asset-based and private lenders can provide more capital, at a higher price and with closer monitoring.

Equity and hybrid capital

Family offices, private equity and strategic investors can fund growth that debt cannot, in exchange for ownership or a share of the upside. Venture debt and mezzanine sit in between.

Our view

The best financing fits the cash flow

Most financing problems start with a mismatch: short-term money funding long-term assets, or fixed repayments on volatile cash flow. The cheapest offer is not always the right one if its covenants or repayment schedule do not fit how the business earns.

So we start with the cash flow, then design the structure, and only then approach lenders or investors. We do not just introduce a deal; we help shape it, position it and close it with the right partner.
